🌸 Today, I would like to talk to you about Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is a condition observed in 5% to 10% of women, presenting a range of symptoms that occasionally vary with hormonal imbalances.

In some patients, especially an increase in Hirsutismus, acne, and changes in the menstrual cycle may occur. Among these changes, a decrease and irregularity in menstrual frequency can also be observed. Additionally, ovulation problems may occur. In some patients with polycystic ovary syndrome, long-term consequences such as changes in metabolism and insulin resistance may also affect the quality of life. However, not every patient with polycystic ovary syndrome experiences ovulation problems. Some patients ovulate regularly, while others may experience issues such as delayed menstruation and irregularities in the menstrual cycle. As gynecologists, we encounter patients with polycystic ovary syndrome in different age groups. Particularly in adolescence, symptoms such as irregular menstruation, increased Hirsutismus, increased acne, and an increase in body mass index may appear. In adulthood, irregular menstruation and ovulation problems may occur in patients who desire to have children. There is no problem with ovarian reserve in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome. However, occasional issues may arise in the formation of one or two mature eggs, which are expected every month in every woman, and in the ovulation process. Therefore, in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome, if there is an ovulation problem and no other reason is found, intervention is desired. Lifestyle changes, exercise, and weight loss are important initial treatment methods, especially in patients with weight gain. Different treatment methods are applied in patients who desire to have children, and treatments given to correct hormonal imbalances or menstrual irregularities may vary. If you have a desire to have children and have polycystic ovary syndrome, you need to investigate whether you have an ovulation problem. If your ovulation problem does not improve after weight loss, lifestyle changes, and exercise, your doctor should assist you with different options ranging from simple treatments to more advanced assisted reproductive technologies. I wish you all a good day.

There is always hope ...
